(REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.) - Surfers in the Indian River Inlet are met with an eerie surprise Tuesday afternoon when they see a body floating around near the jetty on the north side of the Indian River Inlet Bridge.
Delaware State Police are conducting the death investigation. Troopers were on the scene Tuesday evening to assist the Delaware Department of Natural Resorces Fish and Wildlife (DNREC).
Police say the body had been washed up on the shore and that they do not suspect this incident to be a result of any suspicious activity at this time. Police say the victim is a 48-year-old woman from Lewes and that the body has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to determine the manner and cause of death.
