Marine Education, Research & Rehabilitation Institute (MERR) responded to an unusual rescue near the Indian River Inlet. A seal pup was found after crossing four lanes of traffic. MERR says the young animal had bite wounds but is now recovering safely under their care.

TUESDAY: Ocean City Businesses Prep for J-1 Visa Workers

As Ocean City businesses gear up for the summer, many are preparing to welcome foreign students on J-1 work visas. While concerns around increased immigration enforcement have raised questions about seasonal staffing, the executive director of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce says she doesn’t anticipate any hiring issues.

Delaware State Representative Kevin Hensley, who represents New Castle County, accepted a plea deal related to a 2024 drunk driving crash in Milford. Under the agreement, Hensley will lose his license for one year, be placed on probation, and complete DUI classes.

The Somerset County Dog Control is operating at full capacity. County dog control says they are rescuing dogs faster than they can find them permanent homes. The shelter is urging locals to consider adopting or fostering to help ease the strain.

FRIDAY: Millville Firefighters Face Fallout Over Racial Threats

Two Millville volunteer firefighters were arrested and charged for chasing a coworker with a noose and using racial slurs. The head of the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice is calling for jail time for the accused men. The investigation remains ongoing.
